Skills Bootcamp

Bishop Burton College are delighted to offer Skills Bootcamps for this academic year 2025-2026.

These Skills Bootcamps are part of the UK Governments Skills for Life Agenda. These courses will be run for up to 16 weeks, with the aim help learners either to upskill in their current job or give the foundations for a new job role.

Skills Bootcamps are free to individual learners and can be delivered either face to face or with some blended learning. Employers may need to contribute:

10% of overall costs for SMEs of up to 250 employees OR 30% of the overall cost for larger employees or organisations. 

To access these courses you must be aged 19+, including unemployed or self-employed individuals seeking to gain skills for future roles or contracts. These are not open to existing apprentice

Skills Bootcamp

Butchery Skills Bootcamp

This skills Bootcamps in Butchery is designed to fast-track individuals into skilled roles within the food industry or just to upskill in your current role. The purpose is to:

  • Address Industry Skills Gaps
  • Prepare for Real-World Roles
  • Enable Career Entry or Progression

You will learn:

  • Core food industry knowledge
  • Knife skills and butchery techniques
  • Tools, equipment and workspace practicies
  • Product knowledge
  • Employability skills

Delivery: Bishop Burton College

Cost: This course is £2.095 per learner. Employer funding is SMEs pay 10% of the programme value, while large employers pay 30%: SME £350, Large Business £1,050

Species Identification Skills Bootcamp

This Skills Bootcamp is designed to fast-track individuals into skilled roles within the ecological/environmental industry or just to upskill in your current role. The purpose is to:

  • Address Industry Skills Gaps
  • Prepare for Real-World Roles
  • Enable Career Entry or Progression

You will learn how to:

  • Conduct robust surveys
  • Support habitat management decisions
  • Contribute effectively to conservation and mitigation work

Delivery: Bishop Burton College

Cost: This course is £1400 per learner. Employer funding is SMEs pay 10% of the programme value, while large employers pay 30%: SME £140, Large Business £420.
