As an equestrian college, you’ll find some of the very best equestrian facilities in the UK at Bishop Burton College, including our range of indoor and outdoor arenas.

You’ll also have access to supportive, expert tutors and instructors, many active in the industry alongside their college commitments.

Unrivalled choice

Our Level 1, 2 and 3 courses and apprenticeships cover a wide range of equine studies, including horse care, riding equine therapy and rehabilitation, coaching and grooming.

We also offer an Access to Higher Education Diploma in Equine to prepare students aged 19+ for degree-level study, as well as daytime, evening and weekend Equine short courses.

Outstanding equestrian facilities

Bishop Burton College is home to some of the best equine facilities in the UK, including four outdoor and three indoor arenas for top-level showjumping and dressage.

Theory and practice

Our equine courses include classroom-based study and practical experience. You’ll also gain valuable skills working on the prestigious equine events we host here, as well as from work placements.

From student-only sessions with Ben Atkinson to demonstrations with Geoff Billington, there’s plenty to get involved with.

Riding and competition

As a Bishop Burton student, you can access free British Horse Society training.

If you want extra horse riding hours, or to ride if you’re on a non-riding course, you can join our riding club.

Our best riders are invited to apply to join our prestigious Equine Academy, which can provide you with expert coaching to support your high-level competition.

So, if you want to learn at one of the best equine colleges in the UK, take a look at what we offer!

Kira Richer

Equine Lecturer and Level 3 Course Manager

“In my role as an Equine Lecturer and Course Manager, I teach across a range of topics. Whether I’m at the head of the classroom or out in the yard, I’m happy to be sharing my knowledge and experience with our students.

“Outside of my role at the college, I’m also a BHS stage 5 coach, meaning I’m able to support riders across all the equine disciplines to improve their confidence and skills in the saddle. Being able to share this industry knowledge with my students is really beneficial to help them become confident equestrians."
