Additional Learning Support

Bishop Burton College provides a supportive, safe environment for students who may need additional learning support.

Bishop Burton College is a welcoming and inclusive Post 16 college offering a wide range of support for its students whether they are studying on our Foundation courses or one of our many specialist, technical qualifications. We are fortunate to be located just off the main road through the village of Bishop Burton on a 350-acre open site adjacent to a large commercial farm and equestrian centre.

The college offers a FREE college bus service for full-time students. Additional Learning Support Team are available to support students who have barriers to learning work towards their aspirations in preparing for adulthood.

Who do we support?

  • Students who have an EHCP
  • Students who require Exams Access Arrangements
  • Students who have a Special Educational Need or Disability

  • Autism Spectrum condition
  • Specific learning difficulty- eg Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia
  • Medical conditions

Specialised Students with an EHCP:

Universal and targeted, this provision may also include (based upon information held in Section F of the EHCP)

  • Access to in-class support (eg note-taker, scribe, prompt, reader, social, emotional and physical support)
  • Support with understanding, planning and organisational skills
  • Supporting social interactions
  • Promote independence and opportunity within the areas of 'Preparing for Adulthood'
  • Supervision during unstructured times
  • Meet and greet to and from transport
  • Escort to and from transport and across campus
  • Adaptations to resources
  • Adaptions to the environment
