Sports and Equine Academies

The Sports and Equine Academies at Bishop Burton College allow students to combine their academic studies with high-level sport or equine training. The academies are open to students studying a wide range of courses and provide professional coaching, access to specialist facilities and competitive opportunities alongside full-time education

The academies at Bishop Burton College provide a high-performance training environment that allows students to develop their sporting or equine ability while completing a college or university-level course.

The Sports and Equine Academies at Bishop Burton College are among the highest performing in the country and are led by professional coaches with elite-level sporting experience.

Academy students follow a structured training programme designed to support long-term development. This includes technical and tactical sessions, strength and conditioning, and performance analysis using video technology.

Students do not need to study a Sport or Equine course to join an academy. A wide range of college and university-level courses are available, allowing students to combine their chosen subject with academy training.

Can’t see an academy for your sport?

Bishop Burton College offers support through the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS).

TASS is a dual career programme designed to support talented athletes alongside their education. The scheme helps students balance high-level sport with academic study, ensuring neither needs to be sacrificed.
