Bishop Burton College offers an exceptional pathway for female footballers from Hull, the East Riding, and across the UK to achieve their full potential.
Our Women’s Football Academy empowers players to develop the technical skills, confidence, and resilience needed to thrive in the fast-growing women’s game.
The aim of the Women’s Football Academy is to create opportunity through high-quality coaching, competitive challenge and a clear pathway for progression. The programme is designed for ambitious players aged 16-21 who are ready to compete at the highest level of women’s college football.
The Academy is open to students studying at Bishop Burton College and University Centre Bishop Burton, enabling players to combine academic study with an elite football programme.
Our Women’s Football Academy competes in a range of high-level national competitions. This season, the team has competed in the English Colleges Football Association (ECFA) Women’s Performance League, the only recognised 11-a-side competition within the Association of Colleges (AoC) that offers a consistently high standard of competitive match play for female players.
From September 2026, the Academy will progress to competing in the National Football Youth League (NFYL) which is the highest level of academy football outside the professional game, as part of our partnership with FA Women’s National League Premier side Hull City Ladies.
The new Hull City Ladies U21 Academy will provide a full-time performance environment for aspiring footballers, and football professionals to continue their development at the highest available level in the region. The academy side will sit within the pathway of Hull City Ladies FC, driving player development towards aspirations to play in the professional game
The programme has been carefully designed by experienced coaches working within the women’s football pyramid. Training focuses on technical and tactical development, alongside the physical and psychological demands of the modern game, preparing players for progression into the FA Women’s National League and beyond, all whilst providing students with the educational beenfits of studying at Bishop Burton College.
How to apply
To apply for our women's football academy, you should have previous experience playing competitive football.
You can apply for any course at Bishop Burton College and still be considered for the football academy.

Academy Fees and What’s Included
All non-residential players are required to pay a £99 fee to secure their place in the Men’s Football Academy.
This fee includes:
Coached Strength and Conditioning sessions
Access to Academy Sport Therapists
Travel to away fixtures throughout the season
Full Gold Gym membership for the academic year
Payment is due by Monday 7 September 2026 and can be made via our online shop.
