Get prepared for a career in uniformed public services.

From responding to 999 emergency calls to joining the armed forces, we have the courses to help develop your skills in whatever public service you’d like to pursue a career in.

If you’ve ever wanted to work as a police officer, in the ambulance service, as a fire-fighter, paramedic, probation or prison officer, as well as in the armed services and other related careers, a public services college course at Bishop Burton will get you ready.

Our campus has the space and facilities you'll need. From developing orienteering skills in our woodland to training in our gym, we'll make sure you're ready for the diverse challenges that your career will present to you.

Uniformed public services courses to suit you

Whether you undertake a Level 1, 2 or 3 course, you'll be led by knowledgeable tutors with experience in these careers who can offer you a great hands-on perspective.

Studying the Level 1 Introductory Vocational Studies (Sport And Public Services) course is a great way to gain an understanding of uniformed public services, making use of the experiences and skills of former public service workers.

Our Level 2 and Level 3 Public Services courses will further prepare you for a career within the uniformed public services. You will develop a wide range of practical skills on these courses, which include time with the public services themselves to learn about recruitment and entry requirements.

We also have a Level 3 Policing course available specifically to those wishing to join the police force, which has been designed in collaboration with Humberside Police to ensure the course content is current and provides you with the best platform to progress into the police service. The course provides you with a chance to undertake work experience with the specialist operations unit at Humberside Police.
