Sport College Courses

Want to take your sporting talent to a higher level, or develop your love of sport and exercise into a career?

A sports course at Bishop Burton College would be a great start!

You will be able to take advantage of our excellent facilities, including our state-of-the-art Sports and Health Science Centre, with its dedicated human performance lab and gym.

We offer Level 1, 2 and 3 sport courses, covering everything from sports science to sports coaching and management. All of our courses are taught by supportive, expert tutors and coaches with extensive industry knowledge and contacts.

Whether you want to focus on your performance or concentrate on studying different aspects of sports science, we’ll help you to reach your goals.

Sports Academies

If you want to see how far you can progress within professional sport, we offer a range of sports academies, that allow you to study a whole host of subjects alongside them.

Within the Sport department, we also have a dedicated Level 3 Sport (Academy Option) for football, netball or rugby players. This course would enable you to combine your studies whilst fulfilling your performance potential and playing for your club, county or country.

We can also offer support through the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS). A dual career scheme, TASS will ensue that you are supported both in sport and in your education, regardless of the subject you choose to study with us. The goal of the scheme is to allow you to balance the two paths so that one doesn't need to be sacrificed for the other.

If you love sport but want your primary focus to be your studies, then our non-academy pathway is the right one for you.

A well-connected sports college

Our students access great training, playing and work experience opportunities through our partnerships with professional teams and governing bodies, as well as leading sports and exercise businesses.

You'll also be able to develop your skills through study trips, such as our recent visit to Sydney. Looking to undertake sought-after Duke of Edinburgh Awards alongside your studies? You can complete Bronze, Silver and Gold with us.

Make your career in sport

You’ll be able to specialise in a range of different pathways, including coaching, fitness and physiotherapy, and you’ll develop valuable teamwork and leadership skills. This will open up a range of career opportunities, including:

  • Fitness instructor
