Four GCSEs at grade C or 4 or equivalent, including all Sciences, English and Maths. A satisfactory academic reference is also needed.
*If you have four GCSEs at grade 4 but not Science you will be offered Level 2 Diploma in Animal Care and will then move to one of our other Level 3 courses following successful completion.
If you have Science at grade 4 but Maths and English are at grade 3 or below, but you have other grade 4 GCSE, we may offer you the Level 3 with English and Maths.
How You’re Assessed
A range of coursework, exams and practical assessments, graded at pass, merit or distinction.
Almost all areas of the animal industry require experience and qualifications. Our Level 3 courses allow you to collect UCAS points to enable you to move on to a Foundation Degree or BSc Hons Degree, which in turn gives you the best start in the industry. This course will support your progression into Animal Science and / or Welfare, as well as into a Bioveterinary Science or Veterinary Nursing degree. Please check with the university you wish to study with to ensure you choose the correct units.
The practical skills that are gained and consolidated throughout the course stand you in good stead for joining the animal industry with a strong work ethic and reputation behind you launch your career. Whether it be working in commercial kennels, animal rescue centres, laboratories, veterinary practices, zoos and animal collections or self-employed as a dog walker, pet sitter, dog groomer or running animal parties.
