Animal Management Centre

With over 100 species, our dedicated Animal Management Centre is the perfect place to prepare for a career within the animal industry.

Our Animal Management Centre, which is registered with BIAZA, gives you the opportunity to learn from a wide variety of environments and species, many of which are part of the European breeding programme.

As a member of BIAZA we:

  • Achieve the highest standards of animal care and welfare.
  • Inspire people to conserve the natural world.
  • Participate in co-operative species conservation programmes.

Our indoor animal unit is home to:

  • Reptiles, including a green tree python, a western hognose snake, collared lizards and a chameleon
  • Rodents
  • Aquatics
  • Inverts
  • Amphibians
  • An aviary of birds
  • Common marmosets
  • Dedicated nocturnal room, home to marsupials such as cuscus, breeding sugar gliders and long-nosed potoroo

Outside, you'll find:

  • Mongoose
  • Porcupine
  • Red ruffed lemurs
  • Swamp wallabies
  • Asian short-clawed otters, who are part of a stud book
  • Rhea
  • Alpacas
  • Boer goats
  • Skunks
  • Raccoon dogs, who were born on campus
