Are you looking to further your career in the agriculture industry? This apprenticeship could be perfect for you.

As an apprentice you will be in a position of responsibility in your role at work. You will professionally operate and support the day-to-day management of a farm enterprise to achieve productivity and environmental objectives and benchmarks. You will manage staff, interact with external customers and industry professionals.

Course Information

  • Develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours for future career progression within the agriculture industry
  • Health, safety, welfare, environmental and employment legislation and regulations
  • Soil, manure and nutrient management plans
  • Use of agrochemicals and organic equivalents
  • Principles of managing plant or animal health
  • Bio-diversity
  • Safe and efficient use of machinery and equipment including new technologies
  • Principles of sustainability and net zero targets
  • Types of production, financial and business data
  • Types of financial capital investment, suitability and risk
  • Business records including digital tools

GCSE at grade 4/C in English and maths are essential. You must also pass an initial assessment, secure work as an apprentice in a relevant role and have one satisfactory reference

You will learn through a range of practical and theory-based lessons. On occasion lessons may be delivered online to support your learning and progress

You will be released from work one day per week to undertake training at the college

You will be employed within the agriculture industry, working 30 40 hours per week
You will be assessed through end point assessment (EPA) and graded Pass, Merit or Distinction
  • Stationery i.e., pens, paper
  • An electronic device such as a laptop to access online learning
  • Steel toe-capped boots, high visibility vest and overalls for practical sessions
You will have the opportunity to progress to higher-level degree courses and industry specific courses
You may progress within the industry as a farm manager, farm consultancy or into teaching
No cost to the apprentice
