The college runs training academies to support talented athletes in the sport, as well as supporting newcomers. 

The academy helps prepare athletes for their Pentathlon GB competition programme. Students can join the academy in the 16+ group and progress through to degree-level to continue the opportunity to balance high performance training with academic studies.

This programme is ideal for pentathletes who are aiming to compete at the highest level.


Scholarships are available, which provide players on the 16+ programme with the opportunity to purchase heavily subsidised gym membership and training kit to support their development. 

Entry Criteria

Prospective academy players must have applied for a course at Bishop Burton College or University Centre Bishop Burton. Academy players will normally have already performed at a high level but the criteria is not exclusive and all applications are considered.
