Last week we received notification from a member of staff who tested positive for Coronavirus and, although they were asymptomatic, Public Health England were satisfied that our risk management and mitigation was robust and that no further action needed to be taken.

However, in view of the increasing transmission rates, we have taken the decision to request that face coverings be worn by all students and staff at all times on campus, unless in classrooms, when sat down eating and drinking, outdoors or in your halls of residence. Face coverings must also be worn on all college buses and public transport for your entire journey.

This is informed by a review of the current regional and local situation and also takes into account the most recent Public Health data. However, please do not worry about this sudden change, it is precautionary and we remain confident that our campuses are a safe place for us to learn and work, within the current context.

Therefore, we ask that everyone at the College supports this measure by wearing their face covering around the campus. We would also like to remind everyone to follow the one way systems that are in place around the campus. Movement around the campus should also be kept to a minimum to avoid unnecessary social contact and you should maintain 2 metre social distance wherever possible.

If you are exempt from wearing a face covering, we ask that you carry one of our exemption cards at all times.

Please could you follow this new measure with immediate effect. Those of you who are exempt from wearing a face covering should obtain an exemption card, which you should carry at all times, by Friday 18th September for college level students and Friday 26th September for university level students.

Finally, we would like to thank you all for your effort and support to keep our campus safe.
