University Centre Bishop Burton outperforms national averages in student satisfaction survey

University Centre Bishop Burton is celebrating a major success in this year’s National Student Survey (NSS), with final-year students reporting significantly higher levels of satisfaction across all key areas compared to the previous year – and outperforming national averages in multiple categories.

The NSS, one of the largest surveys of higher education degree student opinion in the UK, gathers feedback from over 375,000 final-year undergraduate students each year.

The 2025 results highlight the University Centre’s continued focus on delivering a high-quality, student-centred experience, with substantial improvements across teaching, academic support, wellbeing services and more.

This year’s highlights include:

  • Teaching on my course: 90.1% satisfaction, notably above the national average of 86.9%.
  • Academic support: 95.3%, surpassing the national average of 87.8%.
  • Organisation and management: 79.2%, now above the national average of 78.4%.
  • Mental wellbeing services: 92.3%, far ahead of the national average of 82.3%.
  • Freedom of expression: 94.3%, significantly higher than the national figure of 88.3%.

Principal and Chief Executive Danny Metters said the results are a clear reflection of the University Centre’s commitment to putting students first.

“These results are a powerful endorsement of the student-first approach we champion at University Centre Bishop Burton,” he said.

“To see such strong gains across the board – and to be outperforming the national average in these key areas – is a testament to the dedication, innovation and hard work of our staff, and the strong sense of community we have here.
