Bishop Burton College to be part of the Football Association’s Women’s Football Apprenticeship programme
The college is one of only twelve further education institutions nationally to be offered the programme, which will be part funded by the Football Association.
The successful candidate will study the Level 3 Community Sport Health Office course, which will be delivered by Weston College through a blended, remote learning model. Alongside their studies, the apprentice will be responsible for the growth and development of the college’s female football provision. The aim is to increase female participation in football across the whole community to improve education, employment and health outcomes for young people.
The programme has been designed by AoC Sport and the FA, aligning with the FA’s 2020-2024 women’s strategy to grow the game and develop the future workforce. The aim of this unique programme is to deliver a holistic learning experience, which will ultimately provide the successful candidates with the necessary skills and knowledge to be pioneers of the women’s game.
James Bennett, Head of Football at the college, said;
“This is a really exciting time for female football at our college. We established a female football programme within the last academic year. Securing the apprentice role will allow this programme to grow and develop even further, including entering a team into the AoC (Association of Colleges) competition structure. The college’s longer-term vision for female football is to have a performance strand that replicates our Men’s programme, whilst ensuring continuous growth to give opportunities for all of our current and future female students at the college.”
AoC Sport’s National Women’s Football Development Officer, Chelsea Mulheir, said;
“The programme aims to boost student employability while supporting the FA in doubling female participation. The key focus is on developing the apprentice’s personal behaviours via a bespoke personal development compass and behaviour framework.”
The vacancy is live between 1st 29th July 2020 and candidates can apply through the national Find an Apprenticeship website.
