Student Accommodation at Bishop Burton College

By choosing to live on campus, you will make friends for life and enjoy an experience that you will never forget.

We have 14 halls of residence, with the option of ensuite or shared bathroom facilities for you to apply for.

Whichever you choose, you’ll have access to:

You don't even need to be able to cook! All of our rooms are half board, so you receive a £1,000 food card to spend in our food outlets.

In our Ofsted Outstanding-rated residential accommodation you’ll be supported by our friendly team of wardens, who are available throughout the night, to make sure you feel happy and safe. We also have 24/7 security on campus for everyone's peace of mind.

Our campus has a family feel which our students love. Despite hundreds of students living on campus, our individual halls of residence make it really easy to make friends. From our wardens to the domestic team, you'll get to know our lovely staff too.

There are plenty of things to do in the local area and we have a dedicated and caring Activities Coordinator. They will speak to you to ensure that the plans they put in place work with your interests and availability. 

As well as regular trips to the shops, we also run off-site trips every other Saturday. These have included trips to York, Meadowhall, Hornsea, Hull Fair, Christmas markets, go-karting and more.

You'll be able to get involved with a range of activities on campus too, from meeting our animals to trying our mechanical horse, creating something with our 3D printers or having a go at bricklaying.

Being on campus means you're also perfectly placed to work here too. There are a range of job opportunities available, including with our catering and equine teams.

Rated outstanding by Ofsted for care standards

In our last Ofsted inspection in February 2023, the care and support given to our students was rated as ‘outstanding’.

Inspectors found students living on campus at college “are happy, dedicated to their courses, make excellent progress and are full of praise for the college and its staff”.

The visit found that:

• Our students enjoy staying in the residential accommodation 
• They have excellent relationships with the wardens
• The college provides highly effective services that consistently exceed the standards of good
• The actions of the college contribute to significantly improved outcomes and positive experiences for young people
• Young people get the individualised help they need from the outset of their college life
• The safety of students is prioritised by all staff, who work as a strong team to keep the young people safe

Please note that the room and kitchen style varies depending on the accommodation type.

How much does it cost to live on campus?

For the 2024/25 academic year, ensuite rooms will cost £6,737 and those with a shared bathroom will cost £6,012. These prices include £1,000 food card.

To complete your application, you will need to pay a reservation fee of £250. This £250 is converted to a damage deposit and is held until the end of the academic year.

Portable Appliance Testing

To make sure that everyone living on campus is safe, we organise Portable Appliance Testing, which takes place during the first term. This costs £2.50 per item, which will be deducted from your room deposit at the end of the year.

Is there financial support to help with the cost of student accommodation?

You may be able to access our Residential Bursary, which is designed for college-level students studying our specialist land-based courses who can't reasonably travel on a daily basis.

You apply directly to the college for this and we allocate bursaries following a financial assessment process. To qualify, your household income must be below £36,000.
