Understanding Our University-Level Courses

We offer a range of university-level courses at University Centre Bishop Burton (UCBB), with full-time and part-time programmes, allowing you to choose the perfect option for your lifestyle and goals.

It can be confusing working out the best route for you, but hopefully, the breakdown below will help.

Each of our courses has specific entry requirements that vary depending on the level and subject you are wanting to apply for, so check out the course you're interested in for details.

Master's Degrees

Master's Degrees

These postgraduate courses are the highest level of study that we offer. To be eligible to study a master's degree, you must have already completed a BSc or BA.

Level 6

Bachelor's Degrees

Bachelor's Degrees

A traditional three-year degree programme. Here at UCBB, we offer these as Bachelor of Science (BSc) and Bachelor of Arts (BA). Where you see (Hons) you will graduate with honours, provided you meet the required academic standard needed.

Top Up

These programmes allow you to top up your Level 5 qualification to achieve a full bachelor's degree in one year full-time or two years part-time. You may wish to continue in the same subject or, ins some cases, you can switch to another subject.

Level 5

Foundation Degrees

Foundation Degrees

These two-year degree programmes allow graduates to progress on to further study to achieve a BA or BSc degree. they are flexible, technical, employment-related degrees that incorporate work-based study.

Higher National Diploma (HND)

Higher National Diploma (HND)

These are one-year programmes when studied full-time. They are ideal for those who prefer to learn through practical sessions. They can provide a direct route into your profession or allow you to progress to higher study.

Level 4

Higher Education Certificate

Higher Education Certificate

Equivalent to the first year of a full-time bachelor's degree, these programmes give you the chance to explore a subject with the option to take a break before returning to the next stage of study, should you wish.

Higher National Certificate (HNC)

When studied full-time, these are one-year programmes. These practical courses can prepare you for work or to progress to higher level study, such as a Higher National Diploma (HND).

Here at Bishop Burton College, we offer college-level courses from Level 1 to Level 3. For entry to a univesity-level programme you would need a Level 3 qualification.
