Bishop Burton College is delighted to have been made the Yorkshire RFU Centre of Excellence for girls aged 16 to 18.

The college becomes one of only eleven Centres of Excellence in England and will be the only centre not affiliated to a Premiership specific team. It gives talented girls the opportunity to access top-level coaching as part of the player pathway.

Our Director of Rugby, Mike Umaga, said:

“We are so pleased that the RFU and Yorkshire County have chosen to work together with us to ensure the Red Roses player pathway remains an integral part of girls’ rugby development in Yorkshire. We look forward to welcoming these talented young female athletes on campus and having them make use of the exceptional sporting facilities that the college has to offer to further their rugby playing potential.”

RFU Performance Pathway Officer (Women) James Cooper said:

“Being able to operate a Centre of Excellence in Yorkshire, with the support of Bishop Burton College, further strengthens the Player Pathway and shows not only the potential within Yorkshire itself but also how the women and girls’ game is developing and growing across the country.”
