- To provide you with both practical and knowledge-based learning, with specialist components focused on landscaping, caring for planted areas, plant science and design.
- Allow you to study and develop skills in real working environments, preparing you for employment.
- To give you the knowledge you need to progress to the level 3 T Level in Ornamental Horticulture, should you wish.
- Sustainability in horticulture, the latest developments in garden design and naturalistic planting schemes.
- The principles of horticulture including; plant science, plant propagation, establishing plants and maintaining planted areas
- The various sectors of the horticulture industry; turf management, ornamental horticulture, hard landscaping, garden design
- Health and safety for the land-based industries
- Working in the horticulture industry
- Plant naming, identification, selection and science
- Preparation, planting and maintenance of plants
- Care, maintenance and use of tools, equipment and machinery
- Horticultural business practices
- Commercial gardening and landscaping
- Developing hard landscape features
You will need 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above. These must include English and Maths.
You will learn through classroom sessions, practical work and blended learning.
You will usually be on campus three days per week.
