We offer a wide range of Sport courses from Level 1 to degree, allowing you to grow your knowledge.

Throughout your time studying our sport courses, you will have the opportunity to specialise in a range of different career pathways which include, coaching, fitness and physiotherapy, to name just a few.

Bishop Burton offers numerous sports teams and academies across different disciplines, with many competing at the highest level possible for their club, county and country.

Our academies also give our Sport degree students the opportunity to undertake high quality applied internships in high performance sport.

What's more, Bishop Burton has outstanding links with professional teams, including Hull City Tigers, as well as national governing bodies and regional sports development.

It is not all elite-level activity; however. We understand the value of sport in not only improving physical and mental wellbeing, but also developing teamwork and leadership skills that can be crucial in later life.

Daniel

Daniel studied the BTEC Level 3 in sport whilst he was on our ACE Rugby Academy. Son of former England head coach, Stuart Lancaster, Dan was one of several talented players involved in the 2017-19 ACE programme. Following an excellent international under 18 series, where he helped Scotland secures some significant victories, Dan left Bishop Burton College with a signed professional contract in the Championship. He has recently been included in England u20 squad and had a loan opportunity with the Premiership side Northampton Saints.

“The Bishop Burton rugby academy has given me a great insight into what it means to be a professional and preparing to play a Championship game. I was able to get a good balance of academic study in my BTEC Sport course as well as accessing all that Tom Gilchrist, Tomasi Tanumi and the ACE rugby academy had to offer. Living on campus during the week with the group of friends I made was great. We’ve made some long-lasting friendships, which helped to enhance my whole college experience.”

Josh

29-year-old Josh Griffin is not only a full-time student at University Centre Bishop Burton, but also a father and professional rugby league player for Hull FC. By studying the Sport and Exercise Science degree at UCBB, Josh will be able to extend his career within sport.

A university degree wasn't something that I used to think about. However, after a few uncertain moments regarding the longevity of my career, I wanted to think about what I could do after rugby. The team at UCBB are really supportive. The small class sizes mean that I always get the support I need, with the team on hand to give advice and 1-2-1 support allowing me to maintain my studies around my training and personal commitments. After spending a number of years in the professional sport environment, I believe I will be well-suited to a role within strength and conditioning.
