Equine Science Student Receives Top Student Award from Royal Society of Biology

We are pleased to announce the achievement of Dani Rhodes, a student who has just completed her BSc (Hons) Equine Science degree at Bishop Burton College. Dani's commitment to academic excellence has earned her the Royal Society of Biology’s (RSB) Top Student Award 2023, recognising her exceptional performance in the field of bioscience.

Dani's perseverance and dedication have propelled her to achieve the highest percentage in her degree cohort, a feat that not only recognises her incredible hard work during her studies but also highlights the calibre of the Equine Science degree programme here at Bishop Burton College.

The Equine Science programme at Bishop Burton College has been instrumental in cultivating Dani's interest in bioscience and fostering her dedication to the field. With a substantial emphasis on biology, the program has equipped her with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in her academic pursuits. Dani's success not only showcases her individual achievements but also underscores the comprehensive and quality education offered by the Equine Science degree course.

Reflecting on her accomplishment, Dani shared, "At first, I felt so privileged to be nominated for this award but then to find out I had won it meant more than just winning, I felt honoured that my hard work, dedication, sacrifices, and the choices I had made for my education during my time at Bishop Burton, were firstly recognised, but were also most definitely worthwhile!"

Rebecca Brassington, Dani’s lecturer, shared her appreciation for Dani's achievement, stating, "We are pleased that Dani received the RSB’s Top Student Award in recognition of her exceptional performance in our BSc (Hons) Equine Science programme, which places significant emphasis on biology. The award offers valuable encouragement to bioscience students as they transition to their professional paths."

The BSc Equine Science programme offers students the opportunity to explore the science of the horse, and the chance to apply knowledge in practical settings through use of our outstanding commercial equine centre. Our graduates leave feeling well-prepared for careers in science and research through their in our excellent onsite laboratories, and having taken advantage of the world class teaching within the Equine department.
