20 Jun 2024 | College

Bishop Burton College is delighted to announce a new collaboration with community sports charity the Tigers Sport and Education Trust (Tigers Trust), with the creation of an exciting and unique new programme focused on supporting young people to pursue a career within the sport industry.

The Level 1 qualification is designed to provide an understanding of key topics in Sport, whilst enabling students to improve their English and Maths. Through a dedicated sports pathway participants will be exposed to a range of sports concepts, including fitness testing, playing sports, an understanding of keeping active and healthy and employability skills. Delivered over three days, students will spend two days a week at the Tigers Trust Arena in Hull and one day at the Bishop Burton campus just outside Beverley.

Hull-based Tigers Trust runs an extensive and highly successful programme of community sports activities across the East Riding and Humber region. This qualification will add to their formal education offering alongside the existing Community Football Coaching & Development Degree. The intention is to provide a practical course that supports young people who have struggled with academic subjects at school, whilst allowing them to develop their passion and interest in sport, providing them with a route into a successful career.
