Are you looking to pursue a career in nursing, care, residential, youth, social or community work? If so, this work-related qualification is an ideal choice.

You will develop an impressive knowledge base across a wide range of care environments and put theory into practice on work placements.

Course Information

Year 2

  • Infection Prevention and Control

You will need four GCSEs at grade 4 or C or equivalent, including English and Maths, or a relevant BTEC Level 2 / First Diploma with a Merit grade. One satisfactory reference and a clear Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check are also required.

You will learn from a mix of theory and practical sessions, enhanced by guest speakers and relevant visits.

You will normally be in college three days a week.

You will undertake 100 hours of work experience in a health care setting. Placements include both health and social care environments.
You will be assessed through assignments and external exams.
Following successful completion of this course you will be able to progress to study at degree level, onto am apprenticeship or into work.
A huge range of opportunities are available, including in healthcare, social work, counselling and many others. This qualification also provides the opportunity to enter the profession at a more senior level.
