Student Blog: Deanna - BTEC Level 3 in Equine Management

19 Mar 2021 | College

I chose this course because I knew I wanted to have the possibility of having a job working with horses in the future and this seemed like a good way to learn more about the industry. I knew it would give me a good opportunity to start working in the industry whilst studying something that interested me and allowed me to learn in a more practical environment.

I decided to study at Bishop Burton because they offered the best course with the opportunity to progress onto a degree in the future. They are also more accessible due to the residential facilities and free transport that they offer.

College encourages you to be much more independent than school and help you take responsibility for your own learning whilst providing any support that you require. It's also more enjoyable because you are studying the subjects that are more suited to your interests.

My favourite part of this course is the practical element which allows you to learn in a hands-on manner and gain experience. I also like the depth of knowledge that you are taught around the horses' anatomy.

I hope this course will lead me onto a degree in Equine Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation so that I can later qualify and work in the industry as a Veterinary Physiotherapist.

I wish I had known how supportive all the staff and tutors are before coming to the college as well as all the opportunities that the course and college offer.

I like all of the equine facilities because they provide a good environment to both work and learn in. My favourite things about being on campus are having access to all of the facilities and being able to learn in both a practical manner and in a classroom for the theory elements.
