Spring Live featured dozens of trade stands and a farmers market

Spring Live draws thousands for spectacular day at Bishop Burton College

2 Jun 2026 |

Thousands of visitors flocked to Bishop Burton College for this year’s Spring Live event, which was a huge success.

Families travelled from across the region to enjoy a packed programme of entertainment, demonstrations and hands-on activities at our picturesque campus near Beverley.

The hugely popular annual event showcased the breadth of our specialist land-based curriculum while celebrating the strong links between the college, industry and the local community.

Visitors enjoyed a wide variety of attractions throughout the day, including sheepdog demonstrations, animal feeding experiences, horse trials, tractor and machinery displays, assault courses, craft activities, fairground rides, games and much more.

Dozens of trade stands and a farmers’ market also proved popular, with guests sampling and purchasing locally produced food and drink while supporting regional businesses and organisations.

Students and staff played a key role in delivering the event, helping visitors explore the campus and offering insights into the practical, career-focused education available at Bishop Burton.

The event provided prospective students and families with an opportunity to discover more about courses in agriculture, animal management, equine studies, engineering, sport and other specialist subjects through interactive demonstrations and exhibits.

Spring Live also reinforced our long-standing reputation as one of the UK’s leading land-based institutions, combining innovation and sustainability with more than 70 years of educational excellence.

Danny Metters, Principal and CEO of Bishop Burton College, said: “Spring Live 2026 has been a tremendous success and it was fantastic to see so many people enjoying themselves.

“The atmosphere throughout the day was incredible, with families, local businesses and members of the wider community coming together to celebrate everything that makes Bishop Burton so special.

“I would like to thank our staff, students, exhibitors and sponsors, whose hard work and enthusiasm helped make the event such a memorable occasion.

“We are incredibly proud of the positive impact Spring Live continues to have and the way it showcases the outstanding facilities, expertise and opportunities available here at Bishop Burton.

“The feedback we have received has been overwhelmingly positive and we are already looking forward to welcoming everyone back again in the future.”

The event – supported by headline sponsor Fine & Country and wider event and activity sponsors – once again highlighted the important role the college plays within the region, not only as a centre for education and training but also as a hub for rural enterprise, community engagement and skills development.

Students involved in the event gained valuable experience working alongside staff and industry professionals, helping to deliver activities and demonstrations to large crowds throughout the day.
