Equine Therapy and Rehabilitation Centre
The Equine Therapy and Rehabilitation Centre provides a variety of treatment and rehabilitative services to promote and assist the recovery of client’s horses in a purpose-built facility located within the Bishop Burton Arena complex.
It incorporates the hydrotherapy spa, water treadmill, solarium, veterinary stocks and the rider fitness and performance unit. High-quality stables can be found adjacent to the Centre, providing temporary residence for horses receiving treatment.
The Equine Therapy and Rehabilitation Centre offers an unrivalled service in equine care, therapy and rehabilitation.
A fully committed and experienced team of staff are always available to assist and advise.
We work closely with local experts Rainbow Equine Hospital in Malton, who offer advanced diagnostic and surgical modalities.
Our hacking track meanders for six kilometres across the College's estate and farmland and offers riders the chance to exercise their horses safely while taking in some of the East Riding's most stunning scenery.
The hacking track is available for groups and individuals to hire, weather depending.
Rider Performance and Fitness Unit
Many riders experience weaknesses within their bodies that manifest themselves in their riding ability.
This may have a negative effect on the horse’s way of going. Such riders often require specialist sports science advice in order to maximise their performance and provide them with the competitive edge.
Our rider fitness and performance unit aims to address the needs of riders in exactly the same methodical way as that of any other athlete. The rider is no different from any other athlete where strength, flexibility and cardiovascular conditioning are vital for sporting success.
This specialist unit allows students and external clients to be analysed without the influence and variables of the horse, in order to develop skills that can be transferred when on the horse.
- Specialist facilities include:
- Interactive dressage simulators
- Specialist sports fitness, strength and flexibility equipment
- Biomechanical analysis software
- Core stability testing and development equipment.
As a BHS Approved Riding School and Exam Centre, we are delighted to be able to offer riding lessons to the general public.
We aim to provide the highest quality tuition in a safe and enjoyable environment.
All new clients will need to book a half hour assessment lesson (£30) before joining any groups. We also need you to allow 15 minutes prior to your lesson time to go through a client detail form, when we can discuss your requirements in more depth.
- Group Lesson for adults: 1 hour = £25 (No more than eight in a group or less than three riders)
- Private Lesson one-to-one half hour = £30
- Private Lesson one-to-one 45 mins = £45
Our current weight limit is 13 stone.
We currently have 110 stables across our three yards offering a variety of stabling solutions from the traditional stone built loose boxes on Main Yard to Beverley Yard’s wooden stables and York Yard’s American Barn system. These include tack rooms.
Students are able to bring their own horse to College on a DIY basis. This is subject to availability, so book early as demand is great. Find out more about livery.
