THE CONSERVATION VOLUNTEERS, Year 1 - Hull and Year 2/3 Hull & York

The Role

This role will support TCV in enabling people and communities to improve their health, prospects, and outdoor places. From local parks and community gardens to nature reserves; we connect people to the green spaces that form a vital part of any healthy, happy community. This is a position for someone seeking work experience and accredited learning in conservation, with a strong interest in volunteering and the potential of people. 

Over the course of the apprenticeship, we will support you over time to:

  • Supervise and run conservation, health & wellbeing and learning projects, engaging with the local community
  • Engage, induct and support of volunteers, ensuring they receive a valuable experience with TCV
  • Monitor success of local projects by keeping records, input volunteer information into TCV data capture systems, and producing reports on progress
  • Maintain TCV resources, including premises, IT equipment, vehicles, tools and project materials, and PPE
  • Carry out risk assessment in relation to people and working environments
  • Read and adhere to organisational Health & Safety and Safeguarding policies and procedures, participate in related mandatory training, and act at all times to safeguard the health & wellbeing of others
  • Promote TCV activities which connect people to green spaces, a vital part of healthy, happy communities

Things to Consider

You will be based from TCV’s Hull office for the first 12 months, then months 13-26 will be split between TCV Hull and TCV York to gain a greater breadth of experience. A CRB check will be undertaken if you are successful for this role. Weekend work is required occasionally but will be arranged and agreed in advance. TCV will supply you with personal protective equipment, work phone and IT. The vacancy is based in locations with good public transport links, and you will need to ensure that you can access the employer and training provider in line with the hours of work. This is a career where much activity takes place in remote locations – TCV usually has a minibus going from the office base to the worksite, but in the longer term a driving licence will likely be essential. The role will involve working outdoors/in all weathers
