Responsibilites:
You will be responsible for approximately 500 acres of common pasture land. Ensuring that the livestock (cows and sheep) and horses are regularly checked and fit for open grazing. Other duties will include, amongst others, recording animal movement, harrowing, general maintenance of hedges and fencing and ensuring that the local Byelaws are adhered to.
The person:
You must be experienced with good cow and sheep husbandry skills as well as horse handling. This position requires a full, clean driving licence and experience of driving a tractor is essential. The ideal candidate will have an NVQ Level 3 qualification in farming and will need to have a hands-on approach with a keen eye for the health and welfare of the stock and have the ability to implement proper grassland management procedures. Ability to communicate and work with others including stockers, public individuals and associates of the pastures is very important.
