The Course

This programme is an ideal introduction to teaching. It is for anyone who wants to work as a teacher, trainer or instructor who is not currently in the profession and is considering it as an option.

It is on the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) and is the introductory award to the suite of teaching qualifications. 

  • What You Study

    • The roles, responsibilities and relationships of a tutor in education and training
    • How to plan and deliver inclusive teaching / training sessions
    • How to assess and give constructive and developmental feedback to students to support their development.
  • Entry Requirements

    Students must be 19+ to undertake this programme. It is desirable that students have a GCSE grade 4 or C or above in Maths and English, or an equivalent qualification. 

  • Duration

    Twelve weeks part-time, with sessions held on a Wednesday evening, 6pm - 9pm. This course is developed via blended learning, with sessions held remotely.

  • Progression

    On completion of the programme, students can progress on to the Professional Graduate Certificate in Education, Certificate in Education or Diploma in Education and Training.

  • Careers

    If you are already employed in the education sector, this course will improve your chances of promotion and if you are not, it will provide the ideal platform to launch a career in teaching.

  • Cost

    The full cost of this course is £250.
