The Course

You will be prepared for careers in many of the uniformed public services and develop a wide range of practical skills on this course, which may feature a residential week with the public services, learning about recruitment and entry requirements.

For applicants wishing to study this course in September 2020, please apply to our Bishop Burton campus. Applications to study at our Riseholme campus are closed.

    • Preparing to respond to emergency incidents
    • Leadership and teamwork
    • Competitive sports and outdoor activities
    • English and Maths, as required.
  • Entry Requirements

    Four GCSEs at grade 3 or D or equivalent, preferably including English and Maths, or a Level 1 qualification in a related subject. One satisfactory reference is also needed.

  • Duration

    One year full-time, normally in college three days a week.

  • Progression

    Progression on to the Level 3 course in Public Services at the college is one possibility.

  • Careers

    Work as a police community support officer, police officer (PCSO), fire-fighter, paramedic, probation officer, prison officer, in the armed forces and many more.

Jade studied the Uniformed Public Services Course and has now joined the Navy, where she is currently undertaking training to be an above water technician.
