The Course

Our English classes give you the skills you need to use English in your life in Yorkshire and the Humber. You will learn to use and understand how English is used in the UK. Our English lessons will teach you about English grammar and vocabulary. You will also be able to really improve your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.

Please note this course takes place at Hull FC Community Hub, KCOM Stadium, West Park, HU3 6JB.

  • What You Study

    Our classes are fun and friendly and our teachers have years of experience and know how to help you to quickly improve your English skills. You can also gain qualifications that are internationally recognised.

    You will improve your English by following a programme of study designed to suit your individual needs. Before you enrol, you can meet your tutor and discuss the best course for you to follow. There are courses running at different levels from elementary to advance.

    Various levels are available:

    • Award / Certificate in ESOL Skills For Life, Entry Level 1
    • Award / Certificate in ESOL Skills For Life, Entry Level 2
    • Award / Certificate in ESOL Skills For Life, Entry Level 3
    • Award / Certificate in ESOL Skills For Life, Level 1
    • Award / Certificate in ESOL Skills For Life, Level 2
  • Entry Requirements

    There are no entry requirements but you will have an induction and an assessment before you enrol for a class. Many students complete a Speaking and Listening qualification before progressing to Reading or Writing but you will be advised which qualification is best suited to your needs

    When you enrol on a course you need to bring:

    • Evidence of your status in the UK - e.g. your passport or Home Office letter.
    • Evidence of your current income if you are claiming concessions - your wage slips, working tax credit, benefit letter or National Asylum Support Service (NASS) letter.
  • Duration

    12 or 30 weeks, dependant on the level of entry.

    Classes start at various points throughout the year. Please note there may be a waiting list for places.

  • Progression

    You may be able to progress to other ESOL levels, academic or vocational training. We will offer you advice and guidance at the appropriate time.

  • Careers

    You may be able to progress to other ESOL levels, academic or vocational training. We will offer you advice and guidance at the appropriate time.

  • Cost

    The cost is dependent on your circumstances and existing qualifications.
