The Course

As an apprentice you will have a job and a wage whilst building up knowledge and skills within the horticulture industry.

This apprenticeship standard at Level 2 will prepare you for work as a golf greenkeeper and comprises of an end point assessment and Functional Skills (English and Maths). 

  • What You Study

    • Preparing golf courses for play, including removing morning dew, raking bunkers, moving tree markers and cutting new holes on greens
    • Applying turf treatments to produce quality playing surfaces
    • Maintaining and renovating bunkers
    • Preparing and using equipment to maintain and renovate all turf surfaces.
  • Entry Requirements

    You must have GCSE English and Maths at grade D or 3 or equivalent. You must also pass an initial assessment, secure work within golf greenkeeping as an apprentice and have one satisfactory reference.

  • Progression

    More advanced courses are available at the college for further progression.

  • Careers

    Work as an accredited greenkeeper. You will also be eligible to join the British and International Greenkeepers Association (BIGGA).
