The Course

As an apprentice, you will already have some experience working in the poultry industry.

This will help to assist with the development of the skills for management and control of poultry farming or hatchery unit. You will be released to study during your working week.

  • What You Study

    • Anatomy, diseases and feeding requirements 
    • Health, safety, hygiene, welfare and biosecurity legislation 
    • Standard operation procedures
    • Performance requirements including cost, growth, waste, hygiene and safety matrix
    • Bird handling 
  • Entry Requirements

    Appropriate employment in the animal industry. It is preferable candidates have a minimum GCSE grade C/4 in English and Maths.

  • How you're Assessed

    The apprenticeship has an end point assessment (EPA) and is graded pass or distinction.

  • Progression

    You may progress to a higher-level course at the college.

  • Careers

    Management roles within the Poultry industry.
