The Course

A General Farm Worker is likely to specialise in Livestock or Crop. 

The apprentice will support the operation of farm enterprises such as animal handling and health. maintenance and cleanliness of machinery. The General Farm Worker will typically be required to drive farm vehicles and must hold the appropriate license.

Mandatory qualifications include: Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid and Level 2 Principles of safe handling and application of pesticides guidance/Safe use of pesticides

Apprentices without level 1 and 2 English and mathematics will need to achieve a minimum of level 1 in these subjects prior to taking the end point assessment.

    The apprentice and employer will select an option in line with their job role. These are livestock worker or crop worker.

  • Entry Requirements

    Appropriate employment in the agricultural industry.

    It is preferable candidates have a minimum GCSE grade D/3 in English and maths.

  • How You’re Assessed

    This apprenticeship has an End Point Assessment (EPA) and is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction.

  • Progression

    More advanced courses are available at the college for further progression.

  • Careers

    On completion of the apprenticeship, suitably able candidates will be able to progress to supervisory / management level positions within the industry.
