Bishop Burton is an official academy of Pentathlon GB and home of Yorkshire Pentathlon. We run training academies to support talented athletes in the sport, as well as supporting newcomers. The academy helps prepare athletes for their Pentathlon GB competition programme. You can join the academy in the 16+ group and progress through to degree to continue the opportunity to balance high performance training with academic studies. This programme is ideal for pentathletes who are aiming to compete at the highest level.
Prospective academy players must have applied for a course at Bishop Burton. Academic entry requirements are available in individual course guides. Academy players will normally have already performed at a high level but the criteria is not exclusive and all applications are considered.
Players in the academy system at Bishop Burton get a high quality programme balanced with their academic commitments. Players receive skill/technical and tactical sessions, strength and conditioning, video analysis and various additional sessions to improve their knowledge and performance.
Players on the 16+ programme have the opportunity to purchase heavily subsidised gym membership and training kit to support their development.
Bishop Burton College is proud to be associated with Pentathlon GB.
Academy members can study any course at Bishop Burton College. During the application process, prospective academy players have the opportunity to indicate their interest in joining the Bishop Burton Sports Academy. A member of the coaching team will be in contact once your application has been submitted.
