ONE of Britain’s most successful dressage riders, Richard Davison, brought his masterclass to Bishop Burton College.
Richard - who has competed in four Olympic Games including London 2012, where he scored 72.812% in the grand prix on Hiscox Artemis - was joined by Alex Hua Tian, who has become something of a golden boy as the only Chinese rider competing internationally.
He was the youngest ever Olympic event rider, competing at Beijing in 2008 at the tender age of 18.
Completing the line up at the masterclass, sponsored by Martin Collins Enterprises, at the college near Beverley on Wednesday, November 21st, was Richard Davison’s wife Gillian and son Tom.
Gillian Davison is a former point-to-point, national hunt jockey and event rider and in recent years has concentrated on producing the family's young dressage stars. She has competed a number of horses on the international stage at Grand Prix level.
The couple’s son Tom has been a member of Great Britain's jumping team and is heavily involved in the competition, management and production of the family’s young dressage, jumping and event horses.
Alex Goldsack, northern sales manager at Martin Collins Enterprises Ltd, said: “We had some wonderful feedback with regard to the splendid riding from Gill, Richard and Alex and the informative dialogue from Richard, Tom and Alex.
“New visitors to the college were wowed with the excellent facilities and - as always when we come to Bishop Burton - it was immaculate.
“It was a thoroughly informative and successful event which had obviously involved a lot of hard work behind-the-scenes by college staff and students.”
Kim Knightley, equine director of Bishop Burton College, added that the students had loved helping the Olympic equestrians’ set-up for the masterclass.
“They all mucked in, helping put up jumps and any other jobs, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the masterclass. Richard, Alex and the team were absolute professionals and managed to get the balance spot on between educational and entertaining. We have had some really positive feedback about both the event and our facilities here at Bishop Burton College.”
