Centre back Louis Bruce and goalkeeper Ben White have been called up for the 2012/13 English Colleges Men’s U19 National Team.
The 18 year-olds went through a gruelling selection process before being named as the only Yorkshiremen on the final squad of 22.
Madeleine Bradley, of British Colleges Sport, said: “There were great performances from all those who attended the final stage of the trial making the decision a tough one.”
James Earl, Bishop Burton’s director of sport, said: “I am really proud of these two students. It’s a great honour for the college, especially as our football academy is only in its second year.
“There has been huge investment here at the college in our facilities and getting students on the England squad couldn’t be a better indication that our hard work and belief is paying off.”
The Football Academy at the college near Beverley gives students professional-level coaching while enabling them to gain academic qualifications. Louis is studying for a sports qualification, while Ben is doing a public services course.
