If you wish to start a new career in construction, the Level 1 Award in Bricklaying qualification has been developed for delivery in a training environment; this means that you do not need to be employed to study this qualification. It has been designed to develop your skills, knowledge and understanding so you can work as a Bricklayer in the construction industry or progress to further training.
This Level 1 Award is designed to give you an introduction to Bricklaying and prepare you to enter the industry in your chosen craft. It offers you the opportunity to build transferable skills to take forward into other qualifications within Bricklaying.
- Working and communicating effectively in construction trades
- Prepare to carry out bricklaying
- Bricklaying skills
- Clear and store bricklaying tools and equipment
- Maths and / or English (if not achieved at grade 4).
One year full-time.
Higher levels of study are available at the college, such as Level 2 and Level 3 Bricklaying.
Work as a qualified bricklayer on a range of different building developments, for established companies or on a self-employed basis, as well as specialist work such as restoration and conservation.
No formal entry requirements. One satisfactory reference is also needed.
