Martina has always had pet goats and hand-reared them since she was a young child. Her duties on her work experience placement at a beef farm organised through the College include feeding calves and carrying out health checks.
Q: What do you like about Bishop Burton College?
A: The College has great facilities and it gives you the chance to get real life experience of all aspects of agriculture. Since starting at Bishop Burton College I have gained a lot of skills and knowledge about farming and the care of livestock.
Q: What is the best thing about your course?
A: Working with livestock and gaining hands-on experience. I particularly enjoy working with the cattle and sheep. We get to take part in lots of practical sessions, including work on the College farm, tractor driving and estate work.
Q: What are your hopes for the future?
A: I would like to progress onto the Level Three Diploma in Agriculture at the College and then study at degree level. Eventually I hope to work as a farm manager or own my own farm.
