Training for the Unemployed

Getting back to work with Edexcel, ILM and City & Guilds Accredited Qualifications and AptEd Awards.

JSA claimants may continue to claim unemployment benefit whilst attending college using our FREE transport.

Training is carried out as either short course delivery or a part time course in line with Department for Work and Pensions guidance around availability for work.

Bishop Burton College is located near Beverley and works in conjunction with the following Job Centre branches:

Barton, Bridlington, Goole, Grimsby/Immingham, Hessle, Hull Britannia House, Hull Market Place, Scarborough, Scunthorpe, Selby, York Monkgate, York and Stonebow.

Health and Social Care

APTed Level Two Diploma in Skills for Professions in Health and Social Care

Health and Social Care modules include:

  • Duty of Care
  • First Aid (students on this course also achieve CIEH Level Two Emergency First Aid in the Work Place)
  • Continence
  • Physical Disability
  • Learning Disability
  • Nutrition
  • Health and Safety

On successful completion of the course, students will receive an AptEd Awards Diploma which can be used towards an Apprenticeship in Health & Social Care.

We also provide assistance with gaining employment in the care sector across the region.

Customer Service

EDEXCEL BTEC Level Two Certificate in Customer Service

Customer Service modules include:

  • Understanding Good Customer Service
  • Delivering Effective Customer Service
  • Planning For Self-Development

On successful completion of the course, students will receive a BTEC Certificate that can be used towards an Apprenticeship in Customer Service.

We also provide assistance with gaining employment across the region.

Team Leading

ILM Level Two Certificate in Team Leading

Team Leading modules include:

  • Manage personal development
  • Plan, allocate and monitor work of a team
  • Manage conflict in a team
  • Make effective decisions
  • Communicate information and knowledge

On successful completion of the course, students will receive an Institute of Leadership & Management Certificate which can be used towards an Apprenticeship in Team Leading.

We also provide assistance with gaining employment across the region.

Horticulture

City & Guilds Practical Horticulture Skills

Horticulture modules can include:

  • City & Guilds units in practical horticulture skills
  • Level Two horticulture tuition
  • NPTC PA1 and PA6 - prepare and apply pesticides
  • NPTC MO1 - prepare and operate a tractor and attachments

This is a flexible programme based at the college two days per week. All units are delivered independently to enable participants to join the programme at any time.

On successful completion of the course, students will receive Industry recognised Certificates that can be used towards an Apprenticeship in Horticulture.

We also provide assistance with gaining employment across the region.
