As a BUD project voluntary trainee you will have a unique opportunity within the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust to work with both our Nature Reserves Team and our BUD project Inspiring People Officer. The role will be a fantastic mix of practical conservation tasks and creative and playful engagement activities within a project team with lots of experience and passion for working in urban greenspaces and with diverse and hard to reach communities. The voluntary trainee will be supported to develop their skills in land management, practical conservation and community engagement.
Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, Spurn National Nature Reserve, Spurn Discovery Centre
Working Week: 3 days a week including occasional evenings and most weekends. The voluntary Trainee must be available during school holidays.
In this voluntary traineeship you will be part of our Inspiring People team who ensure that all our visitors have a fantastic experience when they come to us. This includes when they first hear about the nature reserve through our publicity, planning exciting activities for a range of audiences and delivering activities such as Coastal Schools, KS2 and 3 formal education sessions, workshops and talks. There will also be the development of an outreach programme which this role may be able to lead on. In addition to this there will be a chance to help run a visitor facility/attraction.

Working Week: 3 days a week including evenings or weekends roughly once per month. The voluntary Trainee must be available during school holidays.
This role prepares anyone for a career in environmental conservation. A high percentage of past trainees and volunteers have gone on to gain jobs in science and conservation backgrounds that have completed an inspiring people traineeship.
