Level 3 Team Leader Apprentice (6am - 2.30pm Shifts)

The Role

Main Responsibilities:

  • Organising the deployment of staff to monitor and drive production to meet efficiency and yield standards
  • Ensuring machinery is clean, has been assembled correctly and is ready for safe/efficient operation at the start of shift and throughout the working shift
  • Ensuring all raw materials, ingredients, packaging and labels are available to meet the production plan in full and on time
  • After breakdowns, ensuring Engineers have given their written instruction that machinery is in safe working order and Management/QA’s have checked and signed off that a satisfactory clean down has been completed before production is resumed
  • Promoting good housekeeping practices and ensuring that waste/rubbish is removed from the department in a timely manner
  • Minimising the wastage of product, packaging and consumables
  • Reporting to management any issues which may impact on food safety, health & safety, productivity and service levels
  • Ensuring all employees are working in accordance with health and safety and food hygiene regulations and GMP, and do regular daily checks
  • Ensuring employees do not undertake any task unless they have received the relevant documented training
  • Ensuring all employees are utilised effectively and follow company policy for the authorisation of breaks
  • Encouraging and developing a team work environment
  • Promoting and maintaining goods standard of conduct. Report to management any conduct which may require disciplinary action
  • Ensure KPI targets are monitored and achieved
  • Attend daily management meetings (Tier 1) and support Works Committee Representatives Process Reliability
  • Monitor and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
  • Identify bottlenecks within the process and facilitate root cause analyses/structured problem solving with team members
  • Support functions to reduce downtime
  • Optimize machine utilisation and achieve process reliability with assured quality

Training

  • Take ownership and responsibility for training/buddying support for all roles/processes on the line ready for Trainers sign-off and approval
  • Lead team of operatives to ensure full engagement and high performance at all times through building trust by effective leadership, training, development and communication
  • Conduct regular competency checks and performance reviews for all employees
  • To have all operatives trained to know detailed knowledge of customers’ products, quality expectations, packaging etc.; to ensure conformance to operating procedures aligned to achieving the consistency demanded by the customer

Quality

  • Through leadership and management of team ensure there is a consistent high standard of quality products as agreed within product(s) specifications adhering to good manufacturing GMP Continuous Improvement
  • Embracement of the CI site philosophy and adherence to the initiatives introduced
  • Facilitate and execute practical solutions within structured and appropriate CI methodologies with team members
  • Collaboration with key stakeholders within the company to improve efficiencies, thus ensuring the highest standard of product quality throughout each stage

Routine Testing Requirements

  • Managing metal detector/X Ray periodic checks
  • All M&S COP requirements including routine testing
  • Detection sensitivity requirements
  • Reason for and how to audit fail-safe systems
  • Control of rejected products
  • Depth and nature of metal reject investigations required ·
  • What corrective actions are required
  • Any senior management intervention required

General

  • Be conversant with four strategic pillars (QVIP). Champion this within the department and the wider site

That compliance to relevant Legislation & Legal requirements are upheld at all times and that the foods produced along with the controls undertaken by you and your teams, is done so with absolute Integrity at all times

All pork is hand trimmed by our expert butchers to ensure a consistent finish. By only using small-batch production and gently mincing and blending our sausage filling, we replicate the techniques that were used by Martin Heap in his original shops.
