The Role

As part of the team you will be involved in:

  • Excavation and preparation of ground
  • Shovelling and barrowing 
  • Mixing sand and cement
  • Heavy lifting
  • Carrying out landscaping duties under supervision for patios, driveways, decking, fencing, turfinging
  • Brickwork
  • Laying artificial grass
  • Making sure site is left clean, tidy and safe after work

The Candidate - Personal Qualities

  • Candidate must be enthusiastic
  • Candidate must be confident in dealing with people at all levels
  • Candidate must be punctual and reliable
  • The vacancy is based in a small team and the candidate will be expected to work using their own initiative
  • The candidate must be dedicated to completing the apprenticeship qualification.
  • A hard working individual who has a proactive approach to their work, with good attention to detail
  • Must have a methodical approach to new tasks and problems
  • A helpfull and friendly approach is essential

The Candidate - Qualifications Required

  • No experience necessary as full training will be given
  • No qualifications required as full training will be given but must have basic literacy and numeracy skills to be able to complete the apprenticeship

  • Comfortable dealing with the public
  • The successful candidate will need to have the ability to work independently without  the need for close supervision
  • We are looking for someone who is a good communicator
  • You will be required to work to deadlines, with good time management
  • The successful candidate will be organised and have a good attention to detail

Other Important Information

  • The vacancy is based in a rural area and public transport links are minimal.   You will need to ensure that you can access the employer and training proider in line with the hours of work and college attendance
  • The role will involve working outdoors in all weathers
  • Standing for long periods
  • Using chemicals (after training)
  • Working at heights
  • Using heavy equipment
