The Role

The job is to assist the Estate workers in their daily duties which include:

  • Keeping the Grounds neat and tidy – which includes tree-work
  • Keeping paths and tracks in good condition
  • Fencing where appropriate
  • Maintenance of Estate Buildings such as painting, repairs etc this includes maintenance of some of the Estate cottages.
  • Keeping the various Walks which are open to the public in good repair
  • Keeping dykes clear
  • Cutting back weeds and reeds and other encroaching scrub
  • Helping to maintain Estate vehicles including tractors etc

Desired qualifications

  • No qualifications required as full training will be given but candidate should have basic literacy and numeracy skills and be able to complete the Level 2 Standard Apprenticeship
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in maths and English

Things to consider

  • You will have the option to work flexibly as part of this role
  • The employer will pay a contribution to your reasonable expenses if distance is an issue in addition to the apprenticeship wage
  • A CRB check will be undertaken if you are successful for this role
  • Occasional shift work might be required
  • Weekend work might be required on odd occasions
  • You will need to supply your own clothing however Estate equipment will be supplied (tools, machinery, protective clothing etc)
  • The vacancy is based in a rural area and public transport links are minimal. You will need to ensure that you can access the employer in line with the hours of work
  • If you are short listed for this vacancy you may need to attend more than one interview
  • The role will involve working outdoors/in all weathers/standing for long periods/heat/cold/heights/driving light machinery/using heavy equipment/lifting etc on occasions
