The college is actively focused on challenging what we know about teaching and learning, driving forward academic practice across all areas of our curriculum. Undertaking research in a wide range of areas, the promotion of innovation in practice, collaborative working, and knowledge exchange we aim to drive forward educational thinking and practice.
Bishop Burton College is proud to be dedicated to undertaking a variety of applied research projects and scholarly activity across a diverse range of curriculum areas, including: Animal Management, Equestrian Performance, Ecology and Conservation, Sport and Exercise, Farm and Agriculture, Creative and Design and Criminology.
As a college we pride ourselves on our teaching and learning practise, particularly at higher education, being underpinned and informed by strong applied research and scholarly activity.
Staff are the backbone of Bishop Burton College. Across the college’s teaching teams, but in particular higher education, staff bring in a wealth of expertise and industry relevant experience. Staff qualifications held or working towards range from Bachelor’s degrees, through to Masters and PhD postgraduate level of education. In additional to a myriad of up to date sector/industry relevant experience.
Additionally, staff across all curriculum areas continuously engage in applied research and scholarly activity, through publication in high impact factor journals, conference presentations both in the UK and internationally, and book publications.
Student involvement in research / supporting published work
Across curriculum areas students are activity involved in research at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. With students undertaking independent research projects at both levels in the form of a dissertation. Each year a mixture of students will engage with the state-of-the-art onsite facilities at Bishop Burton, in addition to employers and industry partners to complete these projects. Supported throughout by our academic staff, with some projects resulting in publications.
