Biosecurity Adviser - Livetec Systems

Livetec’s Biosecurity Advisers work at the forefront of livestock protection, supporting the business as a global industry leader in agricultural biosecurity. Committed to improving animal welfare and collaborating with a range of clients, these highly visible positions will deliver advisory services that protect and add value to livestock businesses for the future. With digital and applied agricultural research at the forefront of our growth strategy the positions work as part of a dynamic team to translate our knowledge into action for agricultural businesses to thrive and enabling them to implement and maintain the highest biosecurity measures.

Your responsibilities – the things you will do:

  • Provide biosecurity advice to clients – deliver a suite of biosecurity advisory services and manage a portfolio of clients within the United Kingdom to prevent disease outbreaks and support the livestock sector to thrive.
  • Client management – work with the Livetec Systems team to ensure that clients are receiving up to date, high quality advisory services, and deliver gold standard advisory services.
  • Be visible – Attend meetings or events when required to help the business maintain and build the highest level of engagement for services and satisfaction for our clients, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Develop new services and keeping knowledge up to date – contribute to refining and developing new advisory services as the business grows so that we maintain delivery of relevant, gold standard advisory services.
  • Measuring and monitoring impact – ensure that intended impact from our advisory services are monitored and that we continually learn and improve our services.
  • Data management – work with the Livetec team to ensure that our advisory services move with our digital transformation process.
  • Team Working – contribute actively to the success of the Livetec Knowledge Team as it implements the Livetec Strategy.

Your experience and qualifications:

  • Degree in agriculture, or a suitable and relevant agricultural / animal husbandry qualification.
  • A strong communicator who is empathetic in sometimes challenging circumstances, able to think quickly and creatively.
  • Experience of working with agricultural producers and / or suppliers, preferably in the livestock sector.
  • Proven interest and knowledge of the UK poultry and livestock sector including knowledge of key organisations and institutions involved.
  • An understanding of biosecurity, why it is important and the relative disease risk pathways for commercial poultry / pig industries.
  • Understanding of the risks to poultry and pig producers of disease outbreaks (e.g., salmonella, avian influenza, African swine fever).
  • Understanding and knowledge of the main farming and welfare assurance schemes in the United Kingdom.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft applications and a keen ability to work using digital technology.

What we are also looking for:

  • Frequent travel is required to visit clients and you must be willing to spend nights away from home as determined by client portfolio schedule and distance.
  • Travel may also be required to support events, training, company fun days, or to support other Livetec field operations.
  • A willingness to work outside of office hours during very busy periods.
  • A full clean UK driving licence and the right to live and work in the UK are required for these positions. Self motivation, drive, enthusiasm, passion, and good organisational skills. Someone who will get things done.
