Student Association

Your college work is crucial, but you can't study all the time and it's important to enjoy your social life to the full too. You'll get off to a flying start at Freshers' Week, supported by the Student Association to help you settle in, make friends and make the most of your time at Bishop Burton College. The Freshers' Ball will give you a taste of the many events, discos and parties to come throughout the year, all organised and supported by the Student Association.

As well as contributing to college social life, the Student Association also acts as the official link between students and the college. The Association meets weekly to discuss plans and budgets for events, receive information about college developments and provide views on issues relating to campus life.

The Association meets with the Principal and other staff regularly, which means the Student Association can discuss your issues as well as making sure that we know firsthand about planned changes within the College.

What is the social highlight of the year?

It has to be the Summer Ball. Everyone has the chance to dress up and celebrate the end of the academic year, their successful grades and their fond farewells!

What advice would you give to a new student?

Get involved! It’s so easy to make new friends by taking part in college activities from the very start of the year. The Association is always looking for new ideas for events and all you have to do is tell us.

Why did you join?

To gain experience of working within a team and other skills, which look great on your CV, to represent all other students and ensure they have a say in how the college is run. If you have energy, ideas and would like to contribute to student life at College, take the opportunity to become part of the Student Association.

So how can you join?

Look out for the Student Association at induction and Freshers’ Week, where you can talk to some of the members and get more information. Check out our Facebook page www.facebook.com/bishopburtonstudentassociation to see details and photos from past events and let us know if you have any ideas. The Students Association is only as good as its members, so join us and make it better than ever in 2012/13!
