Health & Welfare

Health & Welfare

Picture: Student having a check up.

Here at Bishop Burton College we take the health and welfare of our students very seriously. Our aim is for students to enjoy all aspects of college life.

The Health & Welfare Officer is available to provide support with personal problems, health issues and any other problems a student may be experiencing.

Health

All students living on campus are expected to register with the local surgery. Students can make appointments through the college and transport will be provided to the surgery.

Welfare

We have a wealth of experienced staff on campus and an extensive network of support agencies within the community as we feel that students must be supported to be happy and healthy, both emotionally and physically, to enable them to achieve success.

The College has a zero tolerance towards drugs and will deal quickly and formally with anyone found involved with drugs.

The College is a “no smoking campus” but provides designated areas for smokers.

Workshops

The College holds a number of Health & Welfare events throughout the year including Lifestyles Days, Well Being Days, Stop Smoking Groups, drug and alcohol talks, sexual health talks as well as the provision of flu vaccinations and weekly sexual health drop in clinics.
