Joining a community

The College has a reputation for making its students feel welcome from the first afternoon that you arrive through to graduation.

When you choose to come to the College you are choosing to join a warm community in a friendly, supportive environment. We take every care to ensure that you settle in well and receive all the support that you need. Life at College, you will be glad to know, isn't all work and no play.

You will have plenty of opportunities to take part in the range of activities organised by the Students' Association not to mention the exhilarating nightlife available both on campus, locally and at the University of Hull. As most of the action happens in the evening staying on campus is a great way of meeting new friends and getting involved in what's going on.

Events for students

The Bishop Burton College Student Association organise a wide range of social events including the popular Freshers’ Week, Halloween, Valentines and Summer Balls, plus the fantastic foam parties! They also make regular trips to Asylum, the University of Hull’s award winning student nightclub, as well as arranging DJ’s, pool tournaments, movie nights, theme nights, quiz nights, games and many other activities throughout the academic year.

As a College with a strong sporting tradition, the Association also supported teams by providing coaching, kit and transport to away fixtures. There was also the need to shout loudly from the sidelines and participate in aftermatch celebrations which, with the huge success of our sport teams, was quite frequent!

Freshers Week

The first week at College is spent unpacking, making new friends, finding the bar and joining in with Freshers’ Week.

As a new student you’ll already have an idea of what student life is all about, but by the end of freshers – you’ll know for certain!

For students returning to the College it’s just a great excuse to party! By the end of the week you’ll know which bars to go to, where to get a hangover curing breakfast in the morning and you’ll have made lots of new mates.
