Engineering & Construction

The College's extensive range of craft based resources and facilities provide excellent teaching and learning environments for learners on all levels of course, which develops job knowledge whilst at the same time developing practical skills.
The Engineering and Construction Workshops have recently undergone extensive development and refurbishment with significant investment in new plant and equipment.
The Engineering Department offers a number of workshops covering a total area of 900m2. Each of the areas are equipped for the teaching of mechanisation and are well equipped with a range of mechanised plant, mobile teaching rigs, fixed and mobile workshop machinery and vehicle lift.
The fabrication and welding shop has a number of dedicated welding bays, a sheet metal working area and gas welding area. The facility caters for the three main disciplines (MIG, MMA, gas). TIG and plasma cutters are also available. There are two dedicated study areas with extensive ICT facilities. A rolling replacement programme ensures that our machinery is fully up to date.
The Construction Department has three work shops for trowel occupations as well as a fully equipped woodwork shop. The purpose built clear span building with a secure outdoor work area is extensively resourced and is flexible in its nature being able to adapt to a wide range of construction activities.
All facilities are accessed by learners on all types of College programmes including 14-16 Schools partnerships and Diploma learners, full and part time learners as well as College apprentices.
