How to Apply

BISHOP BURTON COLLEGE UCAS CODE: B37

Applications for full time Higher Education courses at Bishop Burton College are usually made online through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Services(UCAS). For all applicants, there are full instructions at www.ucas.ac.uk to make it as easy as possible for you to fill in your online application. UCAS also has a comprehensive guide called ‘Applying Online` which can be downloaded from www.ucas.ac.uk

All applications are welcome to contact us direct for additional information and guidance about any aspect of the application process. (Please telephone 0800 731 82 81).

How to apply for full time study: Please check the prospectus carefully – some of our higher level courses require you to apply direct to us whilst others must be entered through the UCAS system.

Students at school or college: Complete your online application through UCAS following your school/college procedure. You pay online using a credit card or debit card. You may also be able to pay through your school or collage.

Mature Students: All applications from mature students (mature students are classed as 21 or over – with no upper age limit) are considered on an individual basis. We can help you with additional study skills support if it’s been a while since you left the education system.

International applicants outside the UK: Except for those whose school or college is registered with UCAS, individuals from the EU and worldwide can apply online independently. You are responsible for paying the correct application fee, obtaining and attaching the academic reference and for submitting the completed application online to UCAS. Advice is available from British Council offices and other centres overseas, such as your school or collage.

Interviews and visits: You will normally be invited to visit us in order to attend an interview and you may be required to complete a form of assessment before an offer is made to you. These visits and interviews enable you to see the campus, the facilities, as well as give you an opportunity to speak to staff and students.

Offers of a place: Once we have decided we can offer you a place, you will receive a letter giving the exact conditions of the offer. UCAS will also confirm our offer to you. You will need to confirm whether you accept the offer.

Deferred entry: Many students want to take a ‘gap’ year and put off starting their higher education studies for twelve months. There isn’t usually a problem with this. You can apply for deferred entry when you submit your application form or you can decide to take a gap year at a later stage before your take up your place; in which case you should inform us in writing as soon as possible.

UCAS Extra: Extra has been designed for applicants who have used all five of their choices but have no offers for the following reasons

  • received unsuccessful or withdrawal decisions from all five choices or
  • cancelled outstanding choices and have no offers or
  • declined all offers made to them

Extra operates from the end of February until the end of June and further details are available from the UCAS website

Clearing: We will always consider applications during the clearing period (August and September) for students who don’t have places yet, provided vacancies are available. Please telephone 0800 731 82 81 or contact email enquiries@bishopburton.ac.uk

Students with Special Requirements: Applications are welcomed from applicants who have disabilities or any special educational needs. Learner Services will be pleased to discuss your individual needs and, wherever possible, you will be supported throughout your chosen course.
